Dry Tortugas here we come

Tuesday is the day we will be on the Fort Jefferson boat on our way to Fort Jefferson (Dry Tortugas National Park). Let's hope it isn't too windy or the 3-hr+ ride will be really, really rough.

We safely arrived in Key West and have been moving more boxes around our apartment there, the storage unit and the back of the truck for delivery to the island.

I really, really hope our Skype phone number and internet satellite connection will be working out there.

The weather has been mighty windy with a cold front that moved in ... now it's a mere 75 degrees or so. Much warmer than any summer day in Gustavus.

Awesome...
I've ridden the Ft Jeff in December...Here
The ride isn't too bad compared to what you've been dealing with, except for that last stretch called Rebecca Channel. It can get just a little rough... But most of the ride is in fairly shallow waters, and the boat usually stays in the lee of the Marquesas, so it's a decent ride. Blue is a great captain... He'll take care of you.
If you get a chance, tell him Jay (The Big Guy, Volunteer) says Hi.

I've enjoyed your travelogue. Sounds like you've been having a pretty good time. I really got a kick out of your Top-10s.
Looking forward to meeting y'all...
I'll be down to DRTO on the weekend of Dec 11-14. Hope to meet you and Robin while I'm down there.

Yep, Blue took good care of us and the trip was calm, uneventful and beautiful. I saw a turtle in the moat today at lunchtime -- very awesome. Can't wait to dig out my snorkel gear and get in the water.
