At 8:50 p.m., a man was seen carrying an ax in the Indian River Subdivision. The man said he was using it for bear protection, and would leave it in the bushes when he was out of danger.
What if a bear gets to that ax first? Then he would be in big trouble. An ax-wielding bear sounds really dangerous. I think he ought to put that ax somewhere else.
Thanks for giving us a taste of what everyday life is like in Sitka. Here's a story from our suburban police blotter.
A woman was riding on her bike on the road when a car with two males between 17 and 20 drove up beside her, slapped her on the rump, and yelled, "Cars rule!"

Heaven knows -I- carry one at all times.
When do you know that you are "out of danger"?

I hope she was wearing her helmet!
